Rugs get cleaned at our facility, not on your floor

An area rug is a different object from wall-to-wall carpet. It has a foundation, fringes, dyes of varying stability, and two sides — and the dirt in it sits down in the pile where surface vacuuming never reaches. Cleaning it properly means taking it somewhere it can be dusted, submerged or controlled-washed, rinsed thoroughly, and dried flat under airflow. None of that can happen in your living room.

Dusting first — it's the step that matters most

Before any water touches it, a rug gets dusted to drive out the dry soil trapped in the foundation. A room-sized wool rug can hold several pounds of it. Skip this and the water simply turns that grit into mud and drives it deeper.

Dye testing, because Miami sun has already been working on it

We test every colour for stability before washing. Older hand-knotted rugs, and anything with a strong red or indigo, can bleed if the dyes weren't properly set — and rugs that have spent years in front of a bright South Florida window are less predictable than they look. Testing takes a few minutes and prevents an unfixable result.

What we handle

• Hand-knotted wool and silk — Persian, Turkish, Afghan, and the like. Washed by hand, dried flat.
• Machine-made wool and synthetic — the majority of what we collect, and straightforward.
• Natural fibre — jute, sisal, seagrass. These have real limits with water and we'll be honest about what's achievable.
• Sheepskin and hide — specialist handling, done separately.

Pickup and delivery

We collect, wrap, and return the rug to the room it came from. Turnaround is usually five to seven business days; a heavily soiled or delicate piece takes longer, and we'll tell you at collection rather than surprising you later. If you're moving or renovating, we can also store cleaned rugs wrapped until you're ready.
