What actually moves a quote
Condition, more than size. A 2,000 sq ft home cleaned every year costs less than a 1,200 sq ft home that hasn't been done in six. Fibre — wool and natural fibres need gentler methods and more time than nylon. Furniture — an empty house is quicker than one where every room has to be worked around. Stairs, which are slow and hand-worked. Access — a fourth-floor walk-up or a high-rise needing portable equipment takes longer than a driveway ten feet from the door.
How to read a $99 whole-house ad
Those ads exist to get a technician into your living room. Sometimes the number is real for three small rooms of clean carpet with no pre-treatment; more often the visit turns into a quote several times higher once pre-treatment, spot removal, pet treatment and "protector" are added — and the price you were sold isn't the price you pay. The tell is a per-room price well below the local cost of the labour and fuel required to deliver it.
We'd rather quote you honestly on the phone and lose the ones who want the $99. Ask any company you call: does the price include pre-treatment and spot removal, is there a minimum charge, and what will change the number on the day?
Getting an accurate quote in one call
Have ready: how many rooms and roughly what size, whether there are stairs, whether there are pets and where the accidents were, what the carpet fibre is if you know it, and when it was last cleaned. That's enough for a number we'll stand behind.
